World Net Daily has published a story regarding Obama’s plan to “require” students to serve their community in middle and high school. Creating a youth corp seems to be one of his great ideas to get everyone involved to “serve” their nation to preserve the “American dream”.

Perhaps there is reason to be concerned about this, perhaps not. But the key word here is “required”. The 12th amendment to the constitution states:

Section 1: Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction.
Section 2. Congress shall have power to enforce this article by appropriate legislation.

One would hope that this would be enforced by the constitution but Obama has stated in the past that he feels the constitution stands in the way of the “change” he is interested in.

Personally I think there is cause for concern. What would a “civilian security force” do? Obama has also stated it would be just as powerful and well funded as the U.S. military! Sounds like the makings of a police state.
